Kaia sighed, “I know. I’ll be careful.”

After work, she planned to stop by the dealership to pick up her car. But as she and her coworkers headed downstairs, she spotted a familiar silhouette in the lobby.

Lucien stood there in a black shirt. He left the top three buttons open, showing off his smooth collarbone. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, showing these strong, lean forearms. He was holding a super bright, gorgeous bunch of flowers.

The man was flawless–sharp, magnetic, and heartbreakingly handsome. He stood beneath the polished ceiling lights of the office lobby, looking like he’d stepped out of a magazine. People passing by couldn’t help but slow down to stare.

And as they stared, a question seemed to ripple through the crowd. “Who is he waiting for?”

Vanessa, who had never met Lucien before, nearly squealed. “Kaia, look! Oh my god–look over there! That guy’s insane. What floor is he from? And who’s the lucky girl dating him? He’s better looking than most models.”

Ophelia, trailing behind them, let out a sarcastic little snort. “Whoever he’s here for, it’s definitely not you.”

Even Ophelia, despite herself, instinctively smoothed her hair and straightened her shoulders. Her eyes glimmered with a mixture of tension and hope.

She couldn’t quite explain what she was hoping for—just that her heart was racing.

But the next second, her face froze in disbelief.

Lucien stopped directly in front of Kaia. The smile on his lips was soft, but there was no mistaking the possessiveness in his eyes. He extended the bouquet and said in a voice just loud enough for everyone to hear, “Honey, I’m here to pick you up.”
