After some polite small talk, Malcolm gestured for everyone to start ordering.

“I heard abroad that the food here is famous. How about ladies first? Why don’t you pick some signature dishes?”

With that, the menu landed in Kaia’s hands.

Alex glanced at Kaia again, thinking how lucky Jude was. Thanks to him, his whole team was getting the VIP treatment.

“Kaia, Vanessa, go ahead and order,” Alex said.

Kaia and Vanessa didn’t stand at the ceremony. They chose a few dishes and passed the menu back.

Alex had brought a bottle of champagne and two bottles of red wine, worried Malcolm might not take to whiskey.

But when he called the waiter to open the bottles, Malcolm chuckled, “Mr. Miller, my wife’s put me on a no–alcohol rule lately. Sorry, I can’t join you for a drink.”

Alex grinned. “Alright, alright. Let’s all stick to non–alcoholic drinks today, then.”

Malcolm’s attention kept drifting to Kaia, tossing the conversation her way several times.
