Josephine stood still as she heard Lewis’ words. Josephine suddenly realized what was going on. Lewis hadn’t brought her here out of kindness for her. He simply desired even greater control over her.

It was as if everything had returned to its normal state. However, her gaze no longer held that lingering affection when she turned her eyes toward him.
