Chapter 166 Never Mention That Word

Quintin looked back at her several times but still did not get a response from Josephine. He guessed she probably didn’t feel like talking about it, so he decided not to ask further.

The journey back to Styx Mansion was silent.

“You live here, right? I thought I remembered seeing you here before,” Quintin recalled.

The first time he saw her, she was weeping sorrowfully in the middle of the road. Although he didn’t know what had happened to her, her tearful appearance left a strong impression on him.

Unable to resist seeing her like that, he approached and helped her up. She then looked up at him, and since then, her watery eyes were carved in his mind..

Josephine nodded and thanked him.

Quintin got out of the car and opened the door for her. “Be careful. The car is a bit high,” he said while helping Josephine.

However, as soon as Josephine stepped out of the car, another vehicle suddenly appeared and came to a steady stop behind the van.

As Josephine caught sight of the car, a surge of adrenaline coursed through her body, electrifying her veins and causing a numbing sensation in her limbs.

After the car came to a halt, Conrad stepped out from inside, then went around to the back to open the rear door.

Quintin also fixed his gaze on the person emerging from the car. Eyes devoid of emotion, Lewis stepped out and scanned the two. He tugged at the collar of his black trench coat and slowly walked toward Josephine.

Quintin greeted him, “President Alvarez, I’ve brought your sister back.”

Lewis’ gaze swept over Quintin before finally resting on Josephine’s face. “Is that what she told you?”

Confused, Quintin was stunned.

Suddenly, Lewis pulled Josephine into his embrace and wrapped his arm around her waist before looking at Quintin. “Well, thank you, Mr. Quintin, for bringing my sister back.”

Lewis’ tone was calm, but the word “sister” had an ambiguous ring to it for Quintin.

Perhaps it was the pause Lewis made before uttering those words, or maybe it was the way his hand held onto Josephine’s waist, but Quintin couldn’t shake off the strange feeling that lingered in his heart.

Yet he didn’t bother dwelling on it any further. He waved at Lewis. “Goodbye, President
