It was already morning when Josephine woke up.

She clambered up from bed in a daze. She felt an excruciating pain when her palm came in contact with the sheets.

Josephine intuitively raised her hands before her eyes. Both were in bandages. Wounds were also all over her fingertips and had Band-Aids over them.
