Elliot did not expect Avery to be thinking of these things in her drunken state of mind. He stroked her reddened cheek with his hand, then said, “You’ve had too much to drink, Avery. Don’t you feel bad?” 

“I do.” Avery gazed at Elliot with glistening eyes. “I feel really bad seeing your image ruined.” “I’ll be fine after a few days.
