Chapter 381 Blood on the Deck

Beth didn’t know what Natalie was planning, but instinctively she inched closer to where Sam loomed over her.

She moved so slowly, so carefully, that Sam didn’t notice. But it also meant that even though the distance wasn’t far, Beth still hadn’t reached Sam’s back by the time everything erupted.

When Natalie spoke about giving Sam a limitless future, Beth blinked in surprise and looked up at her–just in time to see Natalie suddenly sit up straight.

In her hand, without anyone noticing when she had gotten it, was an awl.

Its surface was coated in something dark, making it impossible to tell what it was.

Before anyone could react, Natalie drove the awl straight into Sam’s neck.

The move was too fast, too sudden. Neither Beth nor Sam had time to process what had happened.

Sam only felt a flash before her eyes–Natalie sitting upright–and then the searing pain in her throat.

By the time she realized blood was spilling from her neck and tried to cry out, Natalie’s other hand clamped down hard over her mouth and nose.

Sam thrashed wildly.

Blood gushed from her wound as her eyes bulged wide. She couldn’t comprehend how Natalie was even moving, or where that awl had come from.

Beth was stunned, her entire body stiff with shock and a trace of terror.

If she hadn’t treated Natalie with a little kindness before, would she be the one meeting Sam’s fate right now?
