Lemira caught sight of Evelina's panicked look, her lips curling with a hint of smirk. Who would've thought Evelina could actually be scared?

Evelina quickly turned to Lucian, saying, "Lucian, since this whole mess indirectly started because of me, let me clear the air. I need to find out if he was bribed to do it." Lemira couldn't help but scoff, "Wasn't it you, after all?"

After her accusation, Evelina's face turned pale, her heart racing with fear. Evelina couldn't be sure if Lemira had more evidence up her sleeve.

Evelina rushed to explain, "Lemmy, how could I ever do such a thing? I know you're mad because I didn't stand by you earlier, but I swear it wasn't me."

After saying this, Evelina cast a desperate look towards Lucian. But the latter, frowning, remained silent.

Lemira's eyes and brow carried a chill, "Fine, swear on it then. If you were behind it, may you be struck by lightning, meet a terrible end, and end up a beggar on the streets!" Evelina bit her lip, clearly hesitant to make such a vow. Because the last thing she wanted was to end up broke! She'd worked so hard just to make it rich.

Evelina looked towards Lucian, a picture of pitifulness, "Lucian, I really didn't do this. I can apologize, but swearing like that is just too terrifying."

Lucian, almost instinctively, felt Evelina had a point. An apology should suffice, no need for such dire oaths.
