Lemira jumped, startled, and turned to see Lucian standing outside the car window. She felt a bit awkward. What was he doing here? Orion's expression darkened, clearly annoyed at being interrupted. The Langstons were getting on his nerves more each day. Lucian stood in front of the car window, visibly upset. "Get out of the car, both of you!" Lemira wiped the corner of her mouth, feeling a bit tense, but seeing Lucian's expression calmed her down quickly. She rolled down the window and looked at Lucian with a cool demeanor. "What do you want?" Her tone was so indifferent, it was as if the person outside was a stranger.

Lucian was frustrated and shot a glance at Orion in the back seat. "Lemmy, why are you still hanging out with him?" Lemira countered, "And why shouldn't I be?" "He's not right for you. This guy's background is sketchy, his job is average, and he's obviously after your family's status." Lucian had always been suspicious of Orion. He was just a small-town school nurse before, and now he'd followed Lemira all the way to Orvin. It seemed like he was just clinging to her.

Lemira laughed dryly. "Whatever he is, I like him." "Lemmy, you're still young. We might have been harsh before, and that's why you let him in. But trust me, he's not a good guy."

"Enough. Whether he's good or not is none of your business," Lemira snapped. Lucian turned his warning to Orion. "I'm telling you, don't you dare lay a finger on Lemmy, or the Langston family will make sure you regret it."

Orion's voice was icy. "And what good has the Langston family ever done? Last night, she was almost in trouble. Is that what you call looking out for her? If that's your idea of care, no one in their right mind would want it."
