Gilbert, struggling to contain his irritation, glared at her coldly. "How many times have I told you about Caroline? There's nothing between us. Last night was all about my brother..." "Really?"

Sherilyn chuckled, a sharp glint passing through her eyes. "Could it be, Mr. Gilbert, that you're in love without even realizing it?"

Knock, knock. The door to the hospital room opened.

A nurse entered, pushing a treatment cart. "Mr. Johnson, it's time for your afternoon IV."

Gilbert glared at Sherilyn, his face stormy, and remained silent.
