"Seriously...?" Rebecca was on edge, the thought of Francis insisting on accompanying her to the ER was nerve-racking. How could she possibly agree?

"You don't trust me?"

It was as if Francis had read her mind. "How about this? Once we're at the hospital, I'll have Sherilyn come and stay with you. You trust her, don't you?"

And just like that, the decision was made, leaving no room for Rebecca to protest.

Rebecca sighed softly, leaning against the car window. It seemed there was no other option. Mr. Francis meant well, and her continued objections would only make her seem ungrateful.

"Rebecca."

Sherilyn had received a heads-up and was already waiting at the ER when they arrived.

"Sherilyn." Rebecca managed a weak smile, though it was more of a grimace.

Seeing Rebecca's condition made Sherilyn's heart sink. She wanted to ask how Rebecca ended up like this, but the priority was getting her injuries checked.

"Come on, Rebecca. Let's have the doctor take a look."

"Okay."

Most of Rebecca's injuries were bruises and soft tissue damage, but her eye had taken a serious hit.
