The car came to a halt, and without waiting for Gilbert, Sherilyn pushed the door open and stepped out on her own.

Gilbert paused, a silent scoff escaping him, perplexed by her pride.

By the time he entered the living room, Sherilyn had already made her way upstairs. Gilbert, a step behind, paused as he passed the master bedroom but ultimately turned towards the study instead. He had barely settled down when his phone rang.

It was Caroline.

"Hey?" Gilbert swiped to answer.

"Gilbert," Caroline began, just leaving the TV station, calling him from her car. "I went to the archives, you guys had already left... Everything okay with you and Sherilyn?"

Gilbert remained silent, offering no reply.

Caroline hesitated before speaking, "I wanted to ask, is this a regular thing with Sherilyn and Edgar?"
