Gilbert swung open the door, expecting to see Sherilyn, but she wasn't there.

His brow furrowed even deeper as he made a beeline for the nurse's station.

"Excuse me, have you seen my wife?"

Gilbert exhaled a sigh of relief and wrapped her in his arms. "I thought you left." Sherilyn leaned into his embrace, neither resisting nor responding.

"Weren't you supposed to wait in the room for me? Running around like this, do you want to faint again?"
