Chapter 1120

Gilbert stood silently by the balcony door, watching Sherilyn with a heavy heart.

He hadn't really fallen asleep. The moment Sherilyn had gotten up, he had woken too.

He watched her make her way to the balcony, curling up on the lounge chair like a small, forlorn figure.

His heart ached. He couldn't bear to look, so he closed his eyes, turning his gaze away.

In that moment, he wished more than anything that there was a way to turn back time. He wanted to go back five years.

He wanted to tell his past self, "Make sure to cherish Sherilyn, because someday, she'll become the most important part of your life."

But that was just wishful thinking. The man he had been five years ago could never have imagined the depth of the pain he would feel now.

Regret gnawed at him.

Time ticked by.

Sherilyn fell asleep, her head lolling to one side, nearly tumbling off the chair.

Gilbert rushed forward just in time to catch her.

He bent down, carefully scooping her up and carrying her into the bedroom. Gently, he laid her down on the bed.

He leaned over, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
