Natalie was long accustomed to Gavin’s smooth–talking and paid him no mind, countering with her question, “Does Gracia have a deal with your studio lately?”
“Actually, she took a role in a play a couple of days ago. And she bumped the leading lady we had lined up,” Gavin pondered briefly before adding, “The biggest investors of our company, the Howard family, insisted on having her as the lead. She’s bringing a cool twenty millica to the table, and the executives have given it the green light.”

Natalie listened to his explanation and couldn’t help but curl the corner of her mouth into a sneer. “What if I wanted to kick her out?” she asked softly after a brief pause.
She didn’t understand why the Howard family would favor Gracia. After all, Samuel was Audrey’s ex–husband. They had no reason to help the Wright family.
