Natalie was genuinely bursting. After being hooked up to an IV drip, chugging down a bowl

of oatmeal, and guzzling water, her lower abdomen was uncomfortably taut.

Flushed with anger and embarrassment, she abruptly grabbed Brian’s hand.

Brian halted, lifting his gaze to meet hers.

“I need the bathroom,” she muttered, her face growing hotter by the second as she mustered the courage to speak up, “I’ll call the nurse.”

“No need to trouble the nurse,” he replied after a pause.

Natalie’s mouth fell open, then she frowned and said, “I’m not joking around with you!”

“Do I look like I’m joking?” Brian retorted.

At her wit’s end and feeling like she might explode any second, Natalie clenched her teeth, wishing she could knock Brian out with a single punch!

Footsteps approached from outside the door. Probably, the nurse was making rounds. Natalie’s eyes darted to the sliver of light under the door that flickered. In desperation, she
