Chapter 850 Different World

The sound of splashing water echoed from the bathroom. Whitney shed her grimy dress and stepped into the bathtub.

The warm water cascaded over her body, washing away the fatigue and unhappiness of her day.

She lazily leaned against the bathtub, unintentionally catching sight of his bathrobe left at home. We could have spent tonight in sheer joy.

In no time at all, a thick mist rose within the bathroom, veiling the expression on her face.

After taking a bath, Whitney came out wearing his bathrobe, threw herself onto the bed, and greedily inhaled the scent of his pillow.

The pillow seemed to still carry the scent of Charles.

She stared at the ceiling, wanting to sleep and forget her troubles. However, sleep cluded her.

She had grown accustomed to the presence of Charles by her side, accustomed to falling asleep to the sound of his breathing, accustomed to his embrace, his chest.

Now, the night was far too quiet.

In the end, it was only as dawn was breaking that she finally managed to fall asleep.

The alarm rang in the early morning, and Whitney instantly sat up in bed. She quickly got dressed and rushed downstairs as if someone was urging her to get things done.

“Whitney…

Before Jasmine could finish her sentence, Whitney had already run out of the Newton residence.

It seemed that when she got busy, she wouldn’t dwell on the things that made her unhappy.

After squeezing onto the subway and rushing for the bus, she finally managed to clock in for work before

nine.

Whitney arrived at her desk, panting heavily. Suddenly, she realized that with Charles gone now, there was no one to assign her tasks.

Her position was Charles’ personal assistant, a role distinct from other assistants.

Getting up, she went to Charles’ office. As usual, she watered the plants in the office and tidied up the things on his desk.

There were still open files on his desk, which could prove that his departure was abrupt, as Charles had always been a person who loved to organize and tidy up
