Chapter 228

Isaac opened his eyes. His lips were pursed slightly.

"You're supposed to be taking a break today, Patricia, so why did you decide to treat me to a meal? I would've preferred eating your cooking, though."

Her cooking wasn't particularly fantastic, but for some reason, he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Patricia continued to massage Isaac's forehead. Her feelings now were vastly different from what they once were.

She used to view him as her enemy because he was Adeline's boyfriend, but now, she saw him as a friend.

A very special kind of friend.

"Thank you for what you did last night, President Arnold. From now on, I'll stick to our agreement by cooking dinner and cleaning up your place for you every night."

In the past, she would sneak off and find ways to avoid going over.

She didn't want to admit to owing him money because he was the one who trapped her into it.

However, she was now willing to walk into any trap of his.

Isaac cocked his eyebrows. "You don't need to thank me. Just be nicer to me in the future."

The massage went on for a little longer before Patricia finally withdrew her hands.

The sudden absence of her touch made Isaac feel a little empty on the inside. It had been quite relaxing to feel her soft hands massaging his head.

Patricia opened up the food containers she brought and set the table.

"Dig in, President Arnold!"

Patricia glanced at the time. It was already 12.45PM, and she would usually have lunch ready for him at 12.30PM.

Lunch was fifteen minutes late today, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

Isaac had a weak digestive system because he didn't stick to a proper eating schedule. He would even skip meals if he got too busy.

He also drank coffee every day and tended to have it black, so Patricia often added milk before giving it to him.

Isaac got up and took a seat on the couch.

Patricia sat down on the rug opposite him. It was her favorite spot.

"Are you satisfied with the food today, President Arnold?"

He glanced at the table. It was a well-balanced selection of protein and vegetables, as well as soup.

Patricia paid for it, and it was far more generous than usual. Isaac smiled faintly.

"You've put in a lot of effort, Miss Aniston."

These were the chef's recommendations at Spago and cost a fair amount.

Patricia clamped down on her fork and smiled.

"I'm glad you like it, President Arnold!"

Thus, they sat there and ate their lunch while facing each other. Now and then, Patricia would load up his plate again before carrying on with her lunch.

Isaac would glance at the food she had given him and eat it with relish.

As it was, his appetite improved whenever he shared a meal with her. After lunch, he lit up a cigarette.

He took a puff of the cigarette, all the while staring at her who was still digging into her lunch with small, careful bites.

Just then, the door of Isaac's office was flung open, and Adeline stepped in.
