Chapter 289

Patricia's face flushed crimson upon hearing his words, and she shook her head like a rattle. "Cut it out, Isaac. We're eating here!"

Is this what you should be saying over the dining table?! Sheesh!

However, Isaac's smile only deepened, and a hint of cheer laced his eyes, making him exceptionally good-looking.

Just then, Rose entered the private restaurant with her mother in hand. A smile enveloped her face when she saw Isaac from afar. However, it disappeared the second she saw him holding Patricia's hand.

"What's wrong, Rose?" Martha asked when she found her daughter stopping.

She had been celebrating Nikola's birthday in the banquet hall upstairs until Rose dragged her here, saying that Nikola owned an amazing private restaurant.

Just when Rose thought she could enjoy a pleasant meal, she had to witness this of all things!

After settling Martha at a table, she let her mother order their food while she went to chat with Isaac.

It was only then Martha discovered Isaac and Patricia. She was experiencing an epiphany, realizing Rose had not only finished her bachelor's degree in advance because of him but that he was also the reason she cultivated black roses in the greenhouse at home.

All these years, all this girl could ever see was Isaac.

At that, she sighed. Girls sure left their homes once they found love.

Rose was dressed in a short, bright red dress for the night. Her long, slender legs were on display, making her look exceptionally enchanting.

"Hey, Isaac, what a coincidence!" she called out to Isaac as she approached his table. "We're eating here as well. Why don't you join us?"

While speaking, she pointed toward Martha, who was sitting only some distance away. Isaac dipped his head as a greeting, and Martha replied with a smile.

She was Nikola's stepmother, and their relationship was lukewarm, so Isaac wasn't familiar with her. If anything, he'd just dip his head and say hi whenever he saw her at an event.

Patricia, on the other hand, became somewhat grim after seeing Rose, for the young woman was the epitome of a perfect match for Isaac. No matter how many girlfriends Isaac previously had, she would ultimately be the one he married.

As the thought crossed her mind, her perfectly fine appetite disappeared, and she no longer wanted to eat anything on the table.

At that, she stabbed the venison on her plate repeatedly with a fork, upset.

She knew there was a pretty big gap between her and Isaac—hell, she was even a mother of three. She wasn't worthy of him, but she wanted nothing more than to be by his side and receive his care and protection forever.

Alas, once this desire began, she wouldn't be able to stop it any longer.
