Esther looked down at her feet, feeling the weight of James's rejection.

"Okay, I'll stop pestering you," Esther replied calmly, turning away.

James snorted at the sight of her slouched shoulders. He inexplicably gritted his teeth. "If you can't handle it, then stop. I've never seen someone try so hard to win someone over." What did he mean by that?
