"I just happened to be out buying something, so I figured I'd stop by to check on you." Alexander cleared his throat and asked casually, "Are you feeling any better?"

"Yeah. A lot better. I should be able to get discharged tomorrow." Clara pulled out a ball of yarn and gestured toward a chair nearby. "Want to come in and sit?" Alexander stood at the door, glancing inside. He saw that she was alone. "He..." "He went out," Clara finished his sentence for him.

Alexander nodded and didn't ask further. "The weather's nice today. You've been cooped up in this hospital room for days. Want to go outside for a walk and get some sun?"

She looked out the window. Indeed, the sun was shining brightly.

The past few days had been gloomy, and Wren had been worried the wind would make her condition worse, so he hadn't let her go outside much.
