When the secretary looked up, she was stunned for a moment. Although there were not many in the company that knew Ava, she had worked in the secretary’s office before. After four years, there were only a few employees in the secretary’s office who could still recognize her.
However, they had been warned by the president to act normal around her, even if they met her in the company. Therefore, the secretary stood up and helped point out the direction to her. “Thank you,” Ava faintly felt that the secretary was being a little too respectful to her, but she didn’t think much. She got Dempsey and handed the documents to her. Dempsey smiled to her, “Since these are for the president, you may send them to the president’s office directly.”
“What?”
The supervisor only asked Ava to hand over the documents to Dempsey, but didn’t mention anything about handing them to Damien.
She had to bite the bullet as she walked into the president’s office. Damien was in a meeting via video call with a foreign client. As he saw her coming in, he put a finger on his lips indicating her to keep quiet and wait for a while.

She could only stand where she was and waited quietly with the documents in her hand.
The stack of documents and the folders were quite heavy, so she felt tired after holding it for a while. As she was shy to put them on the table, so she had to hold onto them. Damien was still meeting with his client, and his fingers gently knocked on the table, signaling her to put the documents down. She was relieved and put them neatly on the table swiftly. At this moment, she saw a picture frame on Damien’s desk. There was nothing in the frame, but a blank sheet. Ava felt strange, people would usually put a picture of someone precious to them in the frame so that they could see it from time to time. He had a picture frame, but it was empty. Damien’s video meeting had finally ended, and he closed his laptop lit. “Ah, sorry to keep you waiting.” In fact, Ava could leave directly after putting down the documents, but she didn’t. He noticed that she had been staring at the photo frame, so he explained, “There was a photo of you in the past.”
“What?”
She couldn’t believe any of his words; he must have made it up. He was a liar, wasn’t he?
Damien smiled, “You were gone for so long, I was afraid that I will forget you, so I put a picture of you and look at it whenever I want. But now you are back, and why would I look at a photo when I
can see you anytime?” How could he forget her when she was deep-rooted in his mind. He then stood up and hugged her with his arms around her waist. “Ava, we can start fresh, and it doesn’t matter if you have forgotten everything.” He spoke gently and leaned against her ears. His words were touching and made her heart fluttered.
Her rationale kept her head clear as she didn’t want to believe his nonsense. Although she wanted to push him away, she wasn’t able to do so. In a glimpse, she saw a big safe behind where Damien was sitting.
Enrico said that the file was probably locked in it, was it in there?
She took advantage to move slightly to the safe while letting Damien put his arms around her waist. “Ava, do you remember that you used to work in my secretary’s office? I used to be a diligent worker, but I couldn’t focus ever since you arrive and I wanted to keep you by my side.” His voice became deeper as he smelled the faint sweet perfume on her body. He had missed this familiar scent for a long time. “…. I don’t remember any of this. Could you tell me more?” Ava answered him casually. She wanted to get closer and observe the safe, so she had to act perfunctorily for the time being. Damien was surprised by her sudden obedience but he was glad. He laughed, “You’ve always had misunderstandings about me in the past, we’ve missed out on many things for a long time. Fortunately, it’s still not too late.”
“Is that so?”
