During the days in the Radbury family, Ava and Damien tried their best to avoid one another. This was the condition that she requested from Damien. Otherwise, she would immediately bring their child back to her mother’s home.
Thus, Damien had no choice but to agree to this. He did not even take a step into her bedroom. As for work, the driver from the Radbury family would drop her by the curb to the opposite of the company’s entrance. There was nothing much different, honestly.
In the company, nobody except for Luella knew about her relationship with Damien. There were so many people in the company that Damien and she didn’t even really get to see each other at work. However, the scandal between Dempsey and Damien was getting increasingly viral out of a sudden. It was all because of the one instance of mistaken identity at the camp. “Ava, aren’t you angry?” Luella dragged her to the balcony to talk during lunch break. “What am I supposed to be angry about?” Ava was confused. “The rumours about our boss and Dempsey, aren’t you and him a thing… Don’t you feel jealous?” “We both know that the person at that night wasn’t Dempsey at all. What’s there to be angry about? It’s really bad for Dempsey to get involved in such a rumor for no reason, honestly. Tell me, is there any way to help her clear her name?” “Girl, you want to help her clear her name? Don’t you find something off in this whole situation?” Looking at Luella’s anxious expression, Ava was even more confused. She couldn’t figure out what was wrong in this situation.
As always, Damien had always been the center of the attention! He used to have rumors circulating him, even the time where he was pictured with Kelly Hensley in the airport two days ago. Plus even if there was something, Ava would not bother. Luella could tell from her completely nonchalant look that Ava was not at all worried. “Dempsey has been with the boss for the longest time, and she knows him the best. The two of them are always together every day for work. Besides, Dempsey is a very beautiful woman. Men would definitely be tempted by her! Ava, are you really not worried?” “It’s really not my concern. Why should I care what kind of woman he fancies?” Ava pouted. “Dear god! Cut the pretense in front of me, okay? I won’t say a single thing about you and our boss!” During their whole lunch break, Luella had been talking non-stop about Dempsey to Ava. Hence, Ava’s ears almost exploded from all the talk. At first, she didn’t pay much attention to it. However, she started to feel uncomfortable after hearing about it repeatedly. In the afternoon, when Ava was getting a form from the Finance Department, she ran into Dempsey who came over for some papers as well. Dempsey politely offered her seat for her. Everyone in the department widened their eyes in shock.

After all, Dempsey was the one who worked alongside the CEO! Why would she offer a seat for a random staff member? “Assistant Bradley!” After walking out of the Finance Department, Ava quickly caught up with her. “What’s the matter?” “Well… In the future, when we are in the company, can you not be too polite to me? If you do so, others will start to suspect. And…”
“Okay, I understand.” Dempsey gave her a slight bow with a smile. She was still as polite as ever. For some reason, Dempsey made Ava feel like she was a very polite and nice person, yèt kind of distant. It was as if she was unapproachable.
It was hard to say if she was the same when she was with Damien. As soon as this idea crossed her mind, she immediately shook her head. It didn’t matter to her if Damien and his secretary had a thing! At the end of the day, the two of them were just ‘temporary housemates’ for the sake of their son! “Miss Nagel, you should be going to the printing room after taking the form, right? The 18th floor’s printer is broken. I’ll borrow the one from the Administrative Department.” Dempsey said. Then, Ava nodded and followed Dempsey into the elevator. They went to the Administrative Department for the printing room.
Before she even reached the door, Ava heard two or three female colleagues inside the room. So, she could only wait outside with Dempsey for a while.
However, the people inside were chatting passionately.
Ava clearly heard Dempsey’s name pop out of their mouths.
It seemed that the gossip about Dempsey and Damien had spread everywhere.
