Damien leaned against the door frame and said softly, “Ava, you don’t know how happy I was when you came back.” “You said that you didn’t ask anyone to change the furnishings here?” Ava said coldly, “Then I must have never told you this before.”
“What?”
“I don’t like the colour of the curtains. I can’t stand it.” Ava remembered that all the curtains had warm colours with pretty patterns in her mother’s home. Her mother had even said that it was her favourite style. However, the colour of all the curtains here was dull and cold, and they looked lifeless. In the past, she must have hated the decor here. “Well, I’ll ask someone to change it right away if you don’t like it,” Damien said, “Ava, just tell me if there is anything you do not prefer.” He remembered that Ava would never tell him about her preferences. For a long time, she deliberately changed herself in order to cater to his preferences. She wore outfits that he liked and even read books that he was into, even if it was very incompatible!

He didn’t like it when she behaved that way. “If you told me earlier about things that you don’t like, perhaps there wouldn’t be so many misunderstandings between us.” He reached out and tried to touch her cheek, but he decided against it when she subconsciously dodged him. That night, she expected him to ask her to sleep in the same room with him. She was racking her brain and thinking of ways to avoid it. However, she didn’t think that he would choose to sleep in the guest room instead. The thought that such a huge master bedroom was left for her alone never crossed her mind. She laid on the bed, but she was unable to sleep for a long time. At around three o’clock in the morning, she still didn’t feel sleepy at all. She got up and wanted to go to the next room to check on Jean. Her son had a habit of kicking the quilt, so she should make sure he did not catch a cold, The door of the room was actually open when she arrived. There was no light on but a ray of light from the corridor shone through the crack of the door. A shadow of a figure could be seen in the room.
Damien stood in front of Jean’s bed and was gently covering him with the quilt. Meanwhile, Ava stood at the door with a little shocked. It was surprising to see that Damien could actually be so attentive and considerate. Then, Damien turned to look at her and gestured for her to be quiet. He walked out of the room and gently closed the door.
“Why aren’t you sleeping? Could it be that you’re not used to sleeping in a different bed?” He asked softly. “I… I’m going to bed now!” After she said that, she walked away fast as if she’d seen a ghost. The only thing left behind her was Damien. He let out a low sigh with a slight chuckle.
It was strange that when she returned to the room again, she actually fell asleep in a short time and slept particularly deeply. It was already quite late in the day by the time she woke up the next day. Damien and Jean were both gone. The servant in the house told her, “Mr. Radbury took Jean to school and he must have gone straight to the company after sending him off. He said that you didn’t rest well last night, so there’s no need for you to show up at work today. Also, he asked that you take the day off and just relax at home.” Hence, Ava ate her brunch in the dining room without saying anything. She had gotten up really late and it was already time for lunch. She was about to go home to inform her mother, but before she could go out, a gatekeeper reported that a young lady named Miss Hensley had come to visit. After losing her memory, Ava only knew one person whose last name was Hensley, and that was Kelly Hensley. “Miss Nagel, I thought you would refuse to see me…..” Kelly’s eyes were watery and clear. It made Ava feel pity when she saw her face. Ava quickly asked her to sit down in the living room and told her, “I haven’t been able to see you after I was gone for 4 years. I’ve made you think that I was dead, so I have to apologize.” “No, no, no! It was all my fault… Miss Nagel, now that you have returned to the Radbury family, does that mean you regained your memories?”
Ava shook her head.
She still could not recall anything about the past. “I saw the news. You must be very troubled after being photographed at the airport, aren’t you?” Ava remembered what happened at the airport yesterday and quickly asked her. Yesterday, she was dragged away by Damien so she had no time to talk to Kelly and Selden to catch up! Kelly smiled faintly and said, “I haven’t been acting in any TV series for the past few years, so it’s rare to see myself as a hot topic now. I’m actually very touched to have gained lots of exposure, honestly.” In fact, since Ava had an accident four years ago, Kelly had been by Selden’s side abroad. He was depressed all day, and happiness seemed to be a thing of the past for him. She was afraid that something bad would happen to him, so she accompanied Selden all the time and refused to leave.
