Jason leaned against the wall, slowly making his way into the emergency room.

A small and delicate figure lay motionless on the operating table, appearing almost lifeless. Only her eyes, hidden behind long lashes, betrayed signs of movement, suggesting she was still clinging to life.

Her face had been wiped clean of the bloodstains, revealing a pale and frail visage. Jason knelt on one knee beside the table, his voice lowered as he gently called out, “Eleanor…”

That soft voice managed to pull Eleanor back from the brink of unconsciousness. She struggled to open her weary eye, hoping to catch a glimpse of him one last time, but she couldn’t see anything.

She strained to call him, her fading consciousness and weakened voice making it difficult. Leaning closer to her mouth, he could finally hear her calling his name.
