The men, long trained in the military, exuded an imposing presence, their mere stance radiating a sense of security.

Elara hadn't expected Lysander to show up. She stepped forward to meet him. "What are you doing here?"

Lysander's gaze fell on her, his sharp eyes immediately noticing her flushed and slightly swollen face. Jack had slapped her earlier, and the mark was still visible. His brows furrowed. "What happened to your face?"

"It's nothing. He slapped me," Elara said casually, clearly not taking the incident to heart.

However, Lysander's expression darkened instantly. Jack was already being restrained by several men.

Lysander strode over to Jack, his face icy. Seeing Jack pinned to the ground, he asked coldly, "Did you hit her?"

As he spoke, his foot inadvertently landed on Jack's hand. Jack let out a cry of pain, but Lysander acted as if he hadn't noticed.

Instead, he feaned forward slightly, his voice calm yet suffused with a terrifying pressure. "I'm asking you a question."

Jack wasn't sure if Lysander had stepped on his hand on purpose, but the pain made it feel as though his fingers were about to break. He stammered, "Yes, I did. I'm sorry."

Jack, who had previously mocked the Hawthorne family, now found himself at a loss for words with Lysander standing before him.

Despite his arrogance, Jack had always lived a privileged life, and even during his brief stint in confinement, he'd been cushioned by bribes and special treatment. He was entirely unprepared to endure Lysander's ruthlessness.

As soon as Jack answered, Lysander lifted his foot, and Jack exhaled a breath of relief. But when he looked up to see Lysander's towering figure looming over him like a mountain, the sense of suffocation returned. Lysander gave him a dismissive glance before turning back to Elara. "Let's go. We're leaving."

Elara was about to reply when Jack let out two agonized screams behind her. The sounds were quickly muffled.

Elara instinctively turned to look, but Lysander wrapped an arm around her, preventing her from doing so. "Don't look. It'll just hurt your eyes," he said firmly. With that, Lysander led Elara out the door. Outside, Jack's men had all been subdued, including Emily, who stood trembling as she looked at Elara.

"Ms. Kensington..." Emily's eyes filled with tears, her expression pitiful.

Elara glanced at her and turned to Lysander. "She's not a bad person. Let her go." Hearing this, Lysander gave a subtle signal, and Emily was released.
