35 A Turn of Events

In the midst of Inga’s escalating fury, Mr. Carson Interceded with a firm hand.

“Inga, stop!” he commanded as Inga raged. “How dare she strike me! She’s nothing but an aide!”

Unmoved, Mr. Carson pushed Inga away, shielding Jada behind him. “Your actions warranted that slap. Maybe it’ll bring some sense into you,” he retorted, his voice icy with anger.

Inga, taken aback by Mr. Carson’s rare show of anger, stormed out, casting a final venomous look at Jada. Jada instinctively knew the fight was far from over. But she will be ready any time, any day, to confront Inga.

Turning to Jada, Mr. Carrson inquired, “Did Emma send you here?”

“Yes,” Jada admitted, “Emma guessed Inga would come with complaints. Lucky I got here just in time!”
