Edward turned around. "Go lie down on the couch for a bit. It'll be ready soon."

"No." Janice's voice was husky and soft, dangerously seductive.

Her feelings for Edward hadn't come out of nowhere.

When she left Refined Threads Co., she had to endure one of the darkest, most difficult periods of her life. And through it all, Edward had been there protecting her, never leaving her side. That kind of assurance... she had never felt it before.

She trusted him completely and without hesitation. She knew he would never hurt her and would always protect her.

Edward exhaled softly, giving up on cooking. Lowering his head, he placed a soft kiss at the corner of her lips and coaxed her, saying, "Be good. Go sit down, okay?"

But the next second, Janice stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him instead. She whispered, "But I don't feel like sitting right now."

That was all it took for Edward to abandon all restraint. Gripping her waist, he lifted her and carried her straight to the bedroom.

He washed his hands at record speed, then walked back into the room. He yanked off his tie and pinned her down before she could even sit up.

"Then how about I eat first and you eat after?"
