Chapter 146 More Than Friends, Not Quite Lovers

Caden didn’t say a word.

His gaze dropped as he absentmindedly twirled the umbrella in his hands.

A dull ache settled in my chest.

Silence filled the small space between us as the Ferris wheel gradually descended.

Just as it was about to stop, Caden suddenly lifted his head.

His deep eyes locked onto mine, and in a solemn tone, he said, “Tessa is part of my past. Right now, the only person I want by my side is you. If it means having you, I’m willing to let go of my destined mate.”

His voice, rich and steady, sent a shiver down my spine. My heart pounded.

“Alpha, this man is a good one. I like him,” Freya chimed in excitedly within me.

I bit my lip and casually asked, “Oh? You’d give up your destined mate just for me?”

Caden nodded slightly, his expression calm but carrying a trace of hope. “Yes. So can you give me your answer a little sooner?”

“No.” I chuckled, glancing at him. “I said two months. You’ll have to wait.”

His response had taken me by surprise.

It was exactly what I had wanted to hear–but was he being genuine? Could he truly let go of Tessa?

She had been his obsession for so long, and breaking a bond with a destined mate was no small thing. It came with immense pain.

Doubt lingered in my mind, yet beneath it, a quiet joy blossomed in my heart.
