Chapter 438 Everything Went Just as I Planned

Lilian’s POV:

At 9 am, the next morning, the launch ceremony for The Call of the Wild was in full swing.

Reporters and entertainment journalists from all major media outlets crowded around the venue, their cameras flashing even before the main cast had appeared.

Wendy and I stood among the crowd, watching as the event’s host prepared in the center of the stage. Wendy had a smug look on her face, her gaze fixed on the large projection screen, her smile filled with confidence.

“After today, I’d like to see that bitch try to turn the tide!” Wendy sneered.

“Wendy, just wait and see,” I replied, playing along with her. “Last night, Luminex told me everything was ready. He guaranteed that Rosaline would be completely humiliated today.” I stood on the side, eager to please her.

The ceremony officially began. The host delivered the opening speech; the creative team took the stage. Finally, Rosaline and Jasper gave their remarks. One segment after another unfolded, and before we knew it, the launch ceremony reached its conclusion. Yet, throughout the entire event, the projection screen- meant to play the ‘special footage–remained perfectly normal. Not a single frame of compromising material appeared.

Wendy’s smile slowly faded. She stared coldly at Rosaline, who was now standing on stage for interviews, her fingers tightening around the leather of her handbag.

I frowned. The situation wasn’t right. Luminex had assured me that everything was in place.

Wendy’s charming face turned dark and stormy. She could no longer hold back her frustration. Leaning toward me, she hissed, “What the hell is going on? Didn’t you say your guy had everything set? The ceremony is over! Where’s the dirt I asked for? How did you get things done?!”

I was just as confused. Flustered, I tried to explain, “I don’t know what happened! Luminex told me last night that the plan was foolproof. He even said Starplay Entertainment’s internal network was a joke-”
