Maja gazed at the ring on her finger, a glint of silver in the dim light.

“Sometimes, I feel like I’m not normal. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but I feel this panic, like there’s so much I want to say but can’t quite catch. I remember everything we’ve been through, but my inner world feels like still water, no ripples.”

Her fingers twitched slightly as she spoke, “It’s only when I see this ring that something feels different. Can’t say what exactly.”

Ian took a deep breath and pulled her into a tight embrace.

“Maja.”

After a moment, she asked, “You’re still taking me to see Dr. Herrington tomorrow, right?”

What a mood killer.

“Yeah, I am. So get some sleep now.”

Only then did Maja breathe a sigh of relief and drift off to a peaceful sleep.

Ian watched her face, kissing it over and over, never feeling it was enough.

After a while, he smiled to himself.

In this moment, he was vividly aware that Maja truly loved him.

Her love was in no way less than his.

It’s just that neither of them were good at expressing it.

What came next, he was about to do something he’d regret, something for which he had no other choice.

In the morning, Maja woke up and immediately started trying on outfits in front of the mirror.
