Chapter 2508

Sophia leaned her head against his shoulder, rubbing her tears into the fabric of his shirt. Her voice trembled as she sobbed, "You didn't tell me anything. You just shut me out all of a sudden. Do you have any idea how worried I was? I kept thinking something awful happened to you here. Do you understand how scared I was?"

She clung to him, her whole body shaking with each sob.

Jason felt a sharp ache in his chest-an overwhelming wave of self-loathing. He turned and pressed a kiss to her cheek.

He couldn't tell her that when he saw those photos, it wasn't just anger he felt, but panic. Panic that if she met Robin, she'd be moved, that Robin might talk her into something. Panic that if she called him, he'd see the hesitation in her eyes through the screen.

Should he let her go, set her free? Or hold onto her, even if it meant being selfish?

In the midst of such tranquil beauty, even heartbreak seemed to soften.

Sophia sniffled, her voice barely above a whisper. "You still don't trust me, do you?"
