Chapter 106 Penelope, You Should Just Die

Mr. Cooper bumped into the butler.

The impact contorted the butler's face in pain, forcing him to double over in pain for a long while.

Although Mr. Cooper hadn't hit the pillar, he staggered back several steps, stood dizzily for a moment, and eventually collapsed to the ground, passing out.

Years in prison had taken a toll on Mr. Cooper's health.

"Dad" Penelope raced over, "Dad, wake up, don't scare me. I can't bear to lose you!"

Slowly, Mr. Cooper's eyes fluttered open, his lips trembling, trying to say something, but no sound came out.

Penelope was terrified.

"Mrs. Davis, don't... *cough* don't worry," the butler said, struggling to his feet. "Mr. Cooper will be fine, probably just a mild concussion. A couple of days of rest and he should be back to normal."

Penelope finally let out a sigh of relief. "Butler, thank you, I can't thank you enough..." Words failed to express her gratitude; after all, he had saved her father's life.

"It's nothing, Mrs. Davis. I'm glad Mr. Cooper is alright."

Wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, Penelope realized her face was already streaked with tears. Looking up, she noticed Kelvin standing by, observing the chaos unfold like a spectator. He had a commanding presence, exuding an air of distinguished nobility. Next to him, Penelope felt like a mere clown.

"Take my father home," she said. "I promise you, I'll apologize to Fiona... until she forgives me!"

Kelvin glanced at the butler, "You heard her, go take care of it."

"Yes, Mr. Davis."

Several bodyguards lifted Mr. Cooper into the car, returning him to the jail. As the car disappeared from view, Penelope felt her heart squeezed tightly.

"You always have to learn the hard way, don't you? Battering yourself against the wall until you're bruised and bloodied before you finally relent," Kelvin said quietly. "Why, Penelope?"

She turned to look at him, standing beside her. "Why?" Penelope shot back. "Are we supposed to just endure oppression, without a fight, accepting everything like we're mere stand-ins? Resistance might be futile, but without it, defeat is guaranteed! We have to fight for ourselves!"

A mocking smile curled Kelvin's lips. "And what have all your fights won you, hm?" She bit her lip hard.

"They've won you even more suffering," Kelvin stated. "You're truly remarkable, Penelope."
