His large hand gripped her slender waist, keeping Eliza immobile as their faces nearly touched, their breaths mingling in the small space between them. An intense, sensual tension filled the air.

When they had just married, Casper liked having her face away from him in bed. It was the only way he could truly enjoy himself. To please him, Eliza would kneel until her knees hurt, but she was happy. She had read online that if a man loves a woman's body, he'll gradually open his heart to her. She eagerly awaited the day he would confess his love. She'd dreamed countless times of hearing him say, "Eliza, I love you."

Back then, she was just a girl who blushed and got heart flutters easily. She thought marriage meant being with someone forever. She imagined having his children. But all her thoughts were just that— thoughts.

Casper only cared for her body and never intended to give her his heart. Her past hopes had turned into disdain and contempt. Looking into his eyes didn't make her heart race or her cheeks flush anymore. Without love, there was nothing left.
