CHAPTER 35

JESS

I trailed awkwardly behind Luke, feeling the tension coil in my stomach like a spring ready to snap. As we approached his truck, I could feel Tom's eyes on me. When I turned to look, he was watching us, none the wiser about what really was happening right now. This was Luke - being a jealous asshole, and a small part of me might like it.

He lifted his hand to wave, and my heart sank a little. Before I could wave back, Luke cleared his throat, reminding me he was waiting.

I shot him a glare, hoping he could feel the heat of my frustration. He stood there, expression unreadable, jaw clenched. With a huff, I yanked open the passenger door and climbed in.
