Thoughts of Aurora filled Alpha Fenrir's mind from the day before, forcing himself to focus on pack duties.

Just as he forced himself to focus on pack duties, Beta Nathan burst into the office, clutching a folded piece of paper. His face was tense, his eyes unusually intense. Without preamble, he strode up to Fenrir's desk and thrust a torn paper in front of him. "Alpha, there's something urgent you need to see."

Fenrir took the paper, glancing at the bold header at the top-the name of a nearby hospital. Confused, he raised an eyebrow, but Nathan was already moving toward

"Wait here," Nathan said over his shoulder. "This is too important for you not to hear directly."

With that, he disappeared down the hall, leaving Fenrir staring at the paper in his hand. The hospital name was familiar; it was where the pack members went for medical needs.

A twinge of unease coiled in his gut, but he tried to ignore it. Whatever Nathan had found, it couldn't be that serious or so he told himself.

Moments later, Nathan returned, this time dragging a reluctant doctor in by the arm.
