Chapter 123

“I can no longer reach her,” Monica said as she paced inside the room.

Two days had passed since she was served, and yet there had been no response from Cecil or Calen. She had waited, expecting Cecil to step in, to offer some kind of help, but nothing had come. Now, as she scrolled through her phone, her frustration only grew.

“She blocked me,” Monica muttered, staring at the screen. She pressed the call button again, but the line didn’t even ring. “I can’t reach her. I can’t reach her secretary either.”

Amalia, lounging on the couch, frowned. “That’s ridiculous. What about Calen?”

Monica’s grip on her phone tightened. “Blocked,” she admitted. Luckily, Samantha was there to help them out and even let them stay in her condo unit.

Samantha, sitting at the kitchen counter, tapped away at her laptop. “So they just dumped you,” she said, not even looking up. “I guess it was expected. They’re in a mess of their own right now. Maybe they’re just trying to lay low. Rich people do that all the time, you know?”

Monica sat down, rubbing her temples. “I don’t know… The company must already be in chaos. There were already problems inside the Weiss family before all of this.” Her friends from the company told her about some arguments. Sadly, they don’t know anything more than that.

Amalia crossed her arms. “And yet, you’re the one dealing with the lawsuit while they sit back and pretend they don’t know you.”

Samantha finally looked up from her laptop. “Don’t stress too much about it,” she said. “We have almost twenty thousand in donations now.” She turned the screen toward them, showing the growing number on their Fund for a Cause page. “That’s more than enough for a lawyer.” She leaned back, stretching her arms. “Plus, I’m willing to help out, so we’re fine.”

Monica sighed. She wasn’t sure if “fine” was the right word.

Samantha closed her laptop and stood. “We should go live again,” she said. “Call out Calen for ignoring you. Make sure people see that you’re the victim here.”

Monica immediately shook her head. “No. This isn’t Calen’s fault.”

Samantha scoffed. “He blocked you. His mother blocked you. That says enough.”

Monica exhaled slowly. “I don’t want to drag him into this mess.”

Samantha frowned. “But he’s part of it-”
