Chapter 124

Izzy ended the call without another word. Samantha’s voice grated her nerves. It was clear that she told them the call was recorded yet, they still acted like what she expected them to. How predictably boring, she thought inwardly.

She set her phone down beside her plate and picked up her wine glass, swirling the deep red liquid before taking a sip. Across from her, Atty. Alcaraz chuckled as she leaned back in her chair, shaking her head in amusement.

“Remind me never to get on your bad side,” the lawyer said, setting down her fork. “You’re really something else, Izzy.”

Izzy blinked at her, tilting her head slightly. Then she smiled–soft, innocent, almost too sweet.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she said as she picked up a bite of her steak. “Besides, they’re the ones who keep digging themselves deeper.” They already know about the lawsuit. By now, Cecil must have already abandoned them. Yet, they still thought they could get something out of this!? Greed has blinded them.

Atty. Alcaraz laughed again and took a sip of her own wine. They were dining in a private section of a high–end hotel restaurant, where the lighting was warm, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere quiet enough for business discussions.

As Izzy placed her fork down, she thought back to the call. She never expected Samantha to involve herself this much.

Monica was already desperate, but Samantha…

Samantha had influence. A real following. If Monica was smart, she would use that. She would milk this scandal for every penny, push it into every corner of the internet, and make sure Izzy’s name never left the headlines.

That was fine.

Izzy wasn’t worried.

“Now,” Atty. Alcaraz said, wiping her lips with a napkin. “Monica’s taken care of. But what about Calen?”

Izzy tapped her fingers against the table, her gaze dropping slightly.

Monica was being punished. That was inevitable.

But Calen?

A slow, calculating thought settled in her mind.

“I’m going to take away what he wants the most,” she finally said.

Atty. Alcaraz raised an eyebrow. “And that would be?”

Izzy lifted her wine glass again, her eyes gleaming under the soft restaurant lights. Calen’s dream had always been to inherit the company. He had spent his entire life chasing after his father’s approval, positioning himself as the rightful heir to Weiss
