Chapter 163
“If it had been her, she would never cry.”
Lyra heard Lucas utter such a vague sentence, and it instantly made her fear shoot up to such a level that she could not help but yell out, “Who is she? Who exactly is that woman?! Lucas Gomez, you’ll never love anyone else but that woman, won’t you? But you’ll never get her! You’ve been treating other people’s feelings with disdain, so one day, she will treat your feelings with disdain as well!*
Lucas stopped in his tracks and turned around, his piercing eyes dead-focused on Lyra. At that moment, his usually indifferent gaze was filled with a biting coldness, but he merely glared at her and said nothing at all before turning around and leaving.
Lyra slumped onto the floor, her whole body limp and powerless. Judging by the look that Lucas had just given her, it seemed as though he wanted to kill her right then and there.
She knew then that she was toast!
Serenity was hit by a gust of frigid wind when she walked out of the restaurant, soothing the sting on her cheek.

What a comical farce the evening had turned out to be!
Her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from her relative. As soon as she picked up, she was informed that her grandma was in the hospital.
“Serenity, have you forgotten that your two uncles, your aunt, and your cousins are all still locked up in jail? I heard from the police that they might end up in prison for many years! Aren’t you worried that your grandma might have no one to be by her side at the end of her life?!”
The relative kept on blabbering to urge Serenity to go to the police and withdraw the case immediately so that the police could release them all.
“So, even if you’re really worried about your grandma,” her relative added, “You should release them all! After all, we’re family, no matter what. You shouldn’t have gone too far!”
Serenity found it funny how her relative was accusing her of going too far, yet what her uncles and the rest of the family had done was never regarded as going too far!
Right now, the only person she thought of as family was Grandma and no one else.
After hanging up the phone, Serenity hailed a cab and told the driver she would like to go to the small
town.
The driver told her, “But it’s going to cost you almost 50 dollars to go there this late at night, Miss!”
