Chapter 171
Serenity paused in her steps and slowly turned around, watching as the departing car gradually turned into a tiny black dot in the distance.
Perhaps there would never be another man like Peter who truly cared for her. He didn’t even mind her past as a convict, but… she didn’t want to burden him.
When the car was out of her sight, Serenity turned around and walked slowly into the residential area.
At that moment, she didn’t notice a black Bentley parked not too far away on the side of the road. A man lazily glanced out the window from inside with a faint smile on the corner of his lips as if he had just witnessed something amusing.
However, Contior, who was sitting in the front, trembled in fear as he studied his boss through the rearview mirror.
That look on Jackson’s face… was like he was about to explode in anger!
Connor couldn’t help but put the blame on Serenity for the situation he was in t on her own instead of letting a man escort her!

What would Jackson think of this?!
right now. She should have just returned home
Connor used to think that it was a good thing for Jackson to have met Serenity, but now, he wasn’t so sure of it. He definitely didn’t want to be the target of Jackson’s anger because of her!
“Umm, Mr. Valor. Maybe something happened to Miss Lewis. That’s why she had someone bring her back,” Connor spoke up, breaking the silence in the car
Jackson looked up at him, an amused and sarcastic look on his face as he said, “Ch? Are you pleading on her behalf?”
Connor felt a chill run down his spine and quietly closed his mouth.
Well, it looked like Serenity was on her own
Meanwhile, Serenity had returned to her rented house. She turned on the lights and placed the cheap fast food she had bought at the canteer, just now on the table before going to the bathroom to wash her hands.
Her hands were rough after working hard and tolling every day, and they were no longer as fair and delicate as they were so
many years ago
Serenity only hoped that her words hadn’t had too heavy an impact on Peter. After that thought, she smiled wryly. If it didn’t, then perhaps Feter would continue wasting his feelings on her.
No matter what happened, it still seemed quite contradictory.
Serenity sighed and looked up at her reflection in the mirror. Right now, she was in a heap of trouble. There was the matter with her uncle and also her grandmother’s illness. She didn’t know how to handle either of them.
Stepping out of the bathroom, Serenity suddenly tensed because Jackson was sitting at the small dining table right at this moment, playing with a key in his hand.
