Chapter 172
Jackson slowly leaned down, his face approaching hers, then gently rubbed his cheek against hers as if his actions were filled with boundless affection.
However, his words that were softly uttered next sent shivers down her spine.
“None of my business, hmm? But if I want to know something, I’ll find nut for sure. Tell me, if something happened to him, wouldn’t 1 know where he truly stands in your heart, then?”
Serenity trembled violently at the underlying threat in his words as she glared at jackson.
“What do you want? We’re just colleagues, nothing more!”
“But he likes you, doesn’t he?” Jackson murmured as his thumb lightly grazed her soft lips.
“D-don’t do anything to him,” Serenity said, her lips quivering slightly.
“So, you care about him, Sis?”

Jackson’s voice when he spoke was as soothing as a summer’s breeze, almost as if it could lower anyone’s guard when they heard him.
However, there was a hint of steel in his gaze.
“N-no..” Serenity stuttered, trying to avoid his overbearing presence but failing.
“Is that so? You don’t like him even a little?” Jackson asked, his lips brushing lightly against the tip of her nose as if he were teasing a timid little animal.
Serenity tumed rigid. “No.”
Suddenly, Jackson laughed.
As Serenity watched him laugh in what seemed to be delight, contradictory words like how clear, pure, and charming he looked in that moment flashed in her mind.
She couldn’t help but feel confused at his reaction. At this moment, the way he laughed reminded her of the man she knew from the past, the one she called Jack
“So, you should remember what you said just now, okay?”
Serenity only snapped back to reality when Jackson’s voice echoed in her ear.
He wasn’t Jack. He was Jackson Valor!
Just as she was about to retort, her stomach chase that exact moment to growl loudly in protest.
Jackson blinked in surprise before glancing toward her stomach.
Serenity pursed her lips and felt incredibly embarrassed.
“I almost forgot that you haven’t eaten, Sis,” Jackson murmured as he released his grip on her.
Serenity let out a sigh of relief, but then the man only walked back to the table, lightly touched the box of takeaway she had brought back, and said, “it’s a little cold now.”
