Chapter 1756: the Zorken... and the code... will be mine.

Vroom!

On the interstate highway, a motorcycle sped down the lane, recklessly overtaking cars. Angry honks and curses filled the road, but nothing slowed the motorist’s pace.

The engine revved again, louder this time, as the rider gained on a car ahead.

Inside that car, Teddy shut his eyes briefly as a flash of light caught in his side mirror. He glanced at it again, brows furrowing when he spotted a motorcyclist trailing behind them.

"Mark," he called out, a trace of panic in his voice. "Someone’s behind us."

Who knew? It could be Shawn’s reinforcements or someone worse. As Penny’s assistants, they were both aware she had bodyguards. Mark was usually with her unless she sent him on an errand. But somehow, the speed of the motorist and how it was trying to catch up to them made him very suspicious.

Turning to Mark, panic now etched across Teddy’s face, he tried again, "Sir Mark—"

"That’s Hugo Bennet," Mark replied, eyes fixed on the road. He didn’t slow down, even as the motorcycle closed in. "Don’t worry. If it’s someone else, our men would’ve done something with him."

Soon, Hugo was side-by-side with the driver’s seat. Mark rolled down his window.

"Black, no license plate, possibly armed," was all Mark said. "We hadn’t confirmed if Miss Penny is in there, but according to Teddy, she’s with them."

Hugo barely turned his head. Still, he immediately caught the fear in Teddy’s normally aloof expression. He didn’t say a word—just nodded, then focused ahead. The visor of his helmet glinted in the light as he twisted the handlebars and accelerated.

In seconds, Hugo’s bike began overtaking the vehicle. Mark didn’t change speed, but Hugo’s bike was faster, built to weave easily through traffic.

Hugo’s eyes scanned the black sedan ahead. Intuitively, he killed his headlights. Dangerous move—but he feared more for Penny’s safety. He hadn’t seen her inside. Which left two possibilities: either she wasn’t there... or she was unconscious. Maybe in the trunk.

Either way, Hugo didn’t hesitate. He sped up, thinking he could figure out what to do later.

Meanwhile, inside the unlicensed sedan, Shawn checked the side mirror and spotted the motorcycle that had no headlights. If he hadn’t been paying attention, he might’ve missed it. After all, it was already late, and most of the cars behind him had their headlights on.
