Chapter 1794: One kill

Mint calmed her breathing, feeling the slight heat of the muzzle against her temple. She raised her hands slowly, knowing that one blow from the shotgun would end it all.

"I’m not going to fight," she said. "I still want an open casket to brag that even in death, I look good."

The person beside her didn’t respond or entertain her remarks. Instead, he reached out to grab the strap of her rifle.

"Move, and I’ll blow your head off," the man warned, yanking the strap up to her head. He then shouted, "I found her!"

Mint didn’t take her chances right now. She kept still, letting the man disarm her. The strap went from her torso to her head, then down to her shoulder and arm. She didn’t move an inch, her eyes locked on her arm.

She kept her gaze fixed there until she felt the shotgun on her forehead loosen slightly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Mint quickly reached for her rifle and slid onto her knee. With her weight on the rifle as the man held the strap and her back hitting the mud, she didn’t hesitate to fire, shooting him straight in the chin.

Thud!

The man’s body went limp, falling to the side and almost landing on her. Thanks to her quick reflexes, Mint managed to roll onto her side.

"Hah," she breathed out, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Damn it."

As she sat up, her eyes landed on the man before faint voices echoed through the field. Perking up, she clicked her tongue and pulled the rifle from the man’s grip. She even picked up his shotgun just in case, before quietly moving away.

Meanwhile, the others who had heard the gunfire rushed toward the source. But when they reached the area, all they found was one of their men lying in a pool of his own blood.
