Chapter 89
Emma was infuriated, and Trevor was upset as well. He was annoyed that everyone called him a dirty old git, but he cheered up a little when the netizens posted Emma‘s old tweets. He had no idea she recorded their married life this way. It was a pity she deleled everything, so all he could see were the ones the netizens posted. There were not many of them, but he felt a lot better after seeing the tweets, especially the ones where she described him. They were simple tweets, but he could feel how much she liked him. He was angry that she said it was cringe. In other words, she denied her past with him.
No matter what happened, he never denied that past, nor did he ever avoid talking about it. He only called her short out of spite, and the call ended on a sour note again. Trevor had another call he had to make.
Emma tossed her phone away, regretting that she accepted his friend request. After what happened, the netizens turned their attention back to her love story. For some reason, nobody insulted her anymore. Someone would spout nonsense from time to time, but the other comments drowned them out. Maybe it was because Emma‘s evidence was enough to prove her innocence, or maybe everyone thought they should not accuse someone so lively of something so vile. Perhaps this whole cyberbullying was orchestrated, and it stopped because it could be debunked casily.
Infuriated, Zola hurled her phone away. She could no longer stay calm. “How did she marry someone so perfect? She‘s not even that good!” Zola saw the photos too, and the man was regal. Coupled with the fact that he gave Simon and Steven so much money, it was enough to tell her that Emma‘s ex–husband was rich, powerful, young, and handsome.
Becky was furious as well. “I can‘t believe her fans came to her defense. She doesn‘t even have that many followers.” Becky had to use a lot of her alternate accounts and conspire with a few paid creators to make it seem like Emma married a dirty old git, but all Emma‘s fans had to do was post her old tweets, and Becky‘s efforts were nullified. They were out to slander Emma this time, but in the end, she gained even more fans. Of course Becky and Zola were infuriated. Becky looked at Zola. “What now?”
Zola gritted her teeth. “What else? We’ll have to spend more money if we keep this up.”
The paid creator who interviewed Steven was the one she had been working with for a while. She was the one who provided the funds, including the money they spent on bribing Simon and Steven.
Zola did this all so Emma would get the boot. She wanted her to leave Wesley, or at least get her booted out of ‘The Love Story of Imperial Consort Rose‘ Wesley would let her be the scriptwriter if Emma was out of the picture. This was a big project. She
would gain fame and fortune from it, so she spared no expenses in sabotaging Emma, but she failed and lost a lot of money.
Becky said, “We‘ll let her off the hook this time. We have a lot of time to deal with her anyway.”
Zola had been working in Alpha for a long time now, and she was Emma‘s senior. They might have failed this time, but they still had chances to boot her out.
Someone called Zola. She took the phone to see who it was. It was the paid creator she worked with. He said nervously, “I just got Emma‘s legal letter. She wants me to delete the video and apologize to her.”
Zola answered impatiently, “Pretend you didn‘t receive it. It‘s not like you haven‘t dealt with this before. Just upload more videos to push that interview back and do your job.” Everyone can send a legal letter now, even civilians. It‘s nothing. He should have run into this a lot of times. No need to even panic.
The creator said, “I have dealt with this, but this is different. Emma‘s lawyer is more powerful than I can handle. Nobody in Jonestown would want to get on his bad side.”
Zola‘s face fell. “What did you say?”
The creator said again, “How the heck does she know him? I almost died when I saw who the lawyer was.”
Zola said with a trembling voice, “Who‘s the lawyer?”
He said, “Raymond Washington.”
Zola pursed her lips tightly. She was at a loss for words. Everyone in the Jonestown legal industry knew of that name. He was the hottest lawyer in town, and everyone said he was an aloof man. Not even the tycoons could get him to help them out. How did a nobody like Emma manage to get her hands on him?
The creator said, “I don‘t care why you‘re attacking Emma, but I‘m out. I‘ll delete the video and apologize. And…” The creator emphasized, “You‘ll have to pay for any damages caused by this whole fiasco.” The creator was worried he might get hit, since he was involved. He was just really unlucky. He never got in trouble working with Zola for so long. Nothing ever happened every time they slandered the famous celebrities, but he never thought Raymond himself would step in for a mere scriptwriter.
Zola was furious. “You can leave if you want. I‘ve given you the money. Whatever happens now is on you, not me!” Zola had always been quick to temper, and she mocked, “Honestly, you make a living out of slandering someone else. And you have the gall to threaten me? Now that‘s just ugly.”

The creator was angered. “Watch your tongue, or I‘ll tell everyone what you did. Yes, all the slanders you wanted me to carry out for you.”
Becky could see that it was going to escalate, so she told Zola to keep quiet. Zola knew she should never cross anyone, or it would be bad if he exposed her past.
“Deal with your problem first.” She hung up and hurled all the pillows on the couch at the ground angrily.
Deleting the video and apologizing was akin to embarrassing her. She had just wasted her effort and money.
