Chapter 110
Seeing the stubborn look on Emma‘s face, Trevor gave in and went to ask for a wheelchair.
She was the patient, after all. He had to go with her wishes.
Frankly speaking, he had never realized how stubborn she could be. During their marriage, she had always gone along with whatever he said.
After setting her into a wheelchair, he placed his jacket around her shoulders once more since she would easily flash someone with the way she was currently dressed.
“The ankle is fine,” the doctor concluded after checking her over. “It is merely swollen because you sprained it. Apply some pain relief spray on it, avoid walking too much for the next few days, and focus on resting it.”
She let out a sigh of relief. “I see. Thank you.”
“Do we not need to scan her ankle?” Trevor insistently asked, still worried.
How could the doctor conclude that her ankle was fine just by pinching her ankle?
After all, it would be very bad if she had a bonc fracture.
The doctor stared at Trevor, speechless, with a look that asked Trevor if he was telling a doctor how to do their job.
With all the years of training behind him, he was absolutely sure she had only sprained her ankle. The injury was not serious enough for anything bad to happen to her bones.
If she had a broken ankle, she would not be sitting there so calmly. Instead, she would be writhing in pain.
“Thank you, doctor,” she hurriedly spoke up, dispersing the tension in the air. “I will be heading to the pharmacy then.”
After shooting the doctor an upset glare, Trevor pushed her out of the room.
“I‘ll have Kaleb come to take a look at your injury.” He pulled out his phone as soon as they left the doctor‘s office. After all, he was still worried.
“There is no need to make a big fuss about this.” She could feel a headache building from his behavior. “If it was that serious, I would be screaming in pain.”
Her response only angered him further. He was only doing this for her sake, yet she
complained that he was making a fuss about nothing.
Despite his anger, the rational part of his mind reminded him that he could not get angry because she was the patient here.
Thus, he said as patiently as he could, “Even so, you are too afraid to even walk right now, yes?”
“That is because we have yet to treat the injury,” she replied. “Once I put some pain relief spray on it and the swelling dies down, it will feel better.”
Furthermore, he never gave her a chance to try walking. How could she know if she could bear to walk on that ankle?
She had only exaggerated her symptoms and insisted on a wheelchair because she did not want him to carry her.
Since Emma was so adamant about it, Trevor could only grab the medication for her before leaving the hospital.
As they pulled up to her home, Wesley and Susanna appeared.
When Susanna spotted Emma, she immediately ran out of the car toward her. She pushed Trevor away, intent on helping Emma even though she was wearing high heels as well.
That rendered Trevor speechless.
“How does your ankle feel?” Susanna worriedly asked. “What did the doctor say?”
“I am fine. It is just swollen, and I only need a few days of rest,” Emma replied in a comforting tone.
Susanna let out a sigh of relief before she began to passive–aggressively mock Trevor. “Some people would only be capable of hurting other people. You were fine the entire night until you went out with him.”
There was nothing about Trevor that Susanna liked. Adam and Wesley would be better for Emma since they actually cared about her.
Only people who cared about her would love her and take good care of her.
Trevor?
All he ever did was hurt Emma.
Despite being insulted, Trevor had nothing to say to refute her statements.
After all, she was correct. Emma sprained her ankle because of him.
Emma tugged at Susanna‘s arm, telling her not to continue on.
Thankfully, Wesley was making his way over to them by now. After he greeted Trevor with a nod, he said to Emma, “Let‘s head back.”
She glanced at Susanna. “It‘s okay. I will be fine with Susanna‘s help. Mr. Zurich, you and Mr. Bateson can head home now. I am fine.”
“Since you‘ll have difficulty moving around for the next few days, let me handle your meals,” Wesley said. “At the very least, let me prepare tomorrow‘s breakfast for you.”
In Trevor‘s ears, it sounded like Wesley was showing off in a rather ostentatious manner. Did he think he was all that just because he could cook?
It was only a sprained ankle. Why was he so eager to cook for her?
Emma opened her mouth to reject the offer. After all, it was not like she could not cook for herself.
However, before she could say a word, Susanna hurriedly replied on her behalf, “That is great, Mr. Zurich! I might be able to help look after Emma, but I cannot cook at all.”
“Come, let us go! I would like to taste the cooking of an award–winning actor,” she continued, urging Wesley up to Emma‘s home.
That said, there was no way Emma could refuse to let Wesley into her home.
“Mr. Bateson, thank you for driving me to the hospital and back,” she eventually said to Trevor. “It is rather late. You should head home.”
Thus, the three of them entered Emma‘s home while Trevor was left standing all alone by his car. At that moment, fury burned in him.
On his way home, he called Zachary and complained to him about Wesley‘s eagerness to impress.
To his surprise, Zachary agreed with what Wesley did. “He is not wrong. After all, a man should try to impress the woman he likes. How would she know you like her if you do not try?”
Trevor had only wanted someone to complain to about Wesley, but what he heard frustrated him even further.
“Now, don‘t say that I never told you this, but it will be very easy for Emma to be touched by how Wesley would protect her and care for her every time she is in a bad
spot,” Zachary continued.
By now. Trevor was in no mood to listen to what Zachary had to say anymore. Every word Zachary spoke was a stab in his heart
Meanwhile, the moment Emma and the other two arrived at her home, Wesley immediately headed for the kitchen. Soon, he returned to the living room with two plates of omelet sandwiches. “You must still be hungry. Have some to tide you over.”
“Wow, you are so considerate,” Susanna gasped.
He then returned to the kitchen to prepare tomorrow‘s breakfast for Emma.
“What is going on between you and Trevor?” Susanna then asked as she ate.
“Nothing much,” Emma replied with a smile. “He pulled me while I was not steady on my feet. Hence, I twisted my ankle.”
“I knew it!” Susanna coldly huffed. “He has never been a considerate man. Did he not realize you were wearing high heels? How could he pull you?”
Emma looked down and remained silent.
Susanna was right. While Emma did not know how he acted around other people, she knew for a fact that Trevor never considered her feelings.
He did not care if she was happy or in pain.
Otherwise, how did he not even know that she had never tasted mutton?
As the two women ate, an article began to go viral on the Internet.
Attached to the article was a photo of Crystal leaving the party in a bad state. The headline stated that she was suspected to have fought with Trevor
In the comments section, people spoke of the rumors of a fight happening between the two persons mentioned. While no one knew what they were fighting over, it was obviously a major fight.
The news instantly went viral. Among the many comments, someone cominented, ‘Trevor had never admitted to being in a relationship with Crystal, right?”
As expected, that person was then flooded by insults from Crystal‘s fans.
In a fit of rage, the commenter then replied with a post that thoroughly dissected Trevor‘s relationship with Crystal.
In the end, the conclusion was that Trevor had never once forinally acknowledged
their relationship. All knowledge of the relationship came from Crystal hinting at an affair with him the entire time.
