Chapter 179

In the evening, Emma, Wilson, and Nina went to the Young Family's old house for a formal dinner. The Young Family was flourishing, so the setting was very grand.

As Wilson previously said, perhaps it was because he had introduced Emma's existence to the family in advance, for everyone was very friendly to Emma. As such, she wasn't as nervous as she had been.

Wilson added, "We found out that your best friend lives here, so we also bought a house for you. You can be close to her now, and the two of you can take care of each other."

She was unhappy even when she was younger, especially whenever Simon returned from New Year's visits and showed her his bulging pockets full of all kinds of snacks and candies.

She had also secretly hidden away to cry many times, and she also asked her adoptive mother in frustration why her grandparents didn't like her. However, what kind of answer could she get for such a question? In the end, her adoptive mother could only hold her and cry too.

Yet, at this moment, in the face of the love and kindness of everyone in the Young Family, Emma felt that her misfortunes in the past had been left behind.

Celestia brought her into her arms and said tearfully, "Good girl. You have suffered for so many years. Don't worry, you will have a good life in the future."

What Celestia said was not an exaggeration at all, for the entire Young Family wanted to give the best to her.

Wilson was the youngest child of Celestia, so Emma was naturally the youngest of the younger generation. Her cousin brothers and sisters above her gave her many gifts such as limited-edition bags, designer jewelry, and so on. Emma accepted so many gifts that she had nowhere to put them.

She was also very self-conscious that she didn't have any gifts for them. One of her cousins who ran a fashion brand smiled and said to her, "Your presence is the best gift to us."

That cousin also handed her a card. "This card is for you. In the future, you can have free clothes all year round at my stores."

Emma glanced at the logo on the card and couldn't help but widen her eyes in surprise. This seemed to be the fashion brand that Susanna had recently worked with. A few days ago, Susanna went to shoot an advertisement for this brand. It turned out that this brand was run by the Young Family.

The cousin seemed to see through Emma's thoughts and said with a chuckle, "Yes, it's the brand endorsed by your good friend."

"What a coincidence." Emma took the card with a smile. "Thank you."

Emma didn't know what to say; although she felt that she couldn't wear such high-end luxury clothing on normal days, she had to accept her cousin's gift nonetheless.

The hustle and bustle of the dinner continued until late, and Emma was tired but happy when she returned to the hotel.

This kind of life was something she had never imagined before. Tonight, Celestia even mentioned that she would make Wilson's adoption public. However, Emma thought about it and decided not to announce it just yet.

She was not used to being given attention all the time, and she just wanted to write stories quietly. As such, Celestia chose to respect her decision.

Emma stayed in Kingsford for three days. The more she stayed, the less she wanted to leave. Celestia and Wilson didn't want her to leave either.

However, even though she was on cloud nine, someone else couldn't hold back anymore.

One day, Emma received a call from Cerys. Cerys had a brief chat with her and said, "Regarding the 'The Love Story of Imperial Consort Rose' project, Mr. Bateson feels that your script should be progressing well, and we need to hold a meeting to discuss its further development. Since President Zurich is the director, he can participate via video conference instead of attending the meeting in person, but as a screenwriter, shouldn't you be here physically?"

Emma didn't think much about it and only thought that Cerys' words made sense.

Wesley couldn't possibly leave, so she was the only one who had to hurry back to the meeting.

As such, she happily agreed to it. "Alright, when will the meeting be held? I will book my return flight immediately."

Cerys said, "It'll be held tomorrow at 9.00AM in the conference room."

Emma replied, "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Emma booked a ticket and told Wilson that she was going to leave. Wilson was naturally reluctant to let her go, but he also knew that it was unrealistic to keep Emma in Kingsford all the time.
