Nadine often attended parent-teacher meetings and usually sat next to Callista. Thus, the two had a good relationship. As mothers who participated in parent- child activities, they had plenty to talk about regarding their kids and men.

Bryan and Brad were men of few words, sitting with their wives and listening to their conversations about the children. They wore gentle smiles that showed patience and warmth. It was a stark contrast to Brad's usual standoffish demeanor.

Yet, it was happening. It was so real that Nadine almost questioned if she was imagining things. The scene she had once longed for had finally happened, yet she felt no joy.

They were divorced now, so why was Brad pretending to be so affectionate? Genuine love should be timely. It was meaningless for him to express his feelings after their divorce.

After chatting for a while, the teacher called everyone over for the last activity, which was to form sentences. The teacher provided a set of words and, worried that the children might not recognize them, included illustrations next to each one. Thus, the children could read them just by looking at the pictures.

The words given were: "Mom", "Dog", "Eat", "Watched as", "Ground", "Poop", "T", and "Lay". The teacher also read the words aloud with the children a few times.

"Alright, can any of you use these words to form a sentence? There's a special prize for whoever gets it right!"

Initially, the children were giggling and chatting among themselves, paying little attention to the teacher. But at the mention of a prize, the room quickly fell silent, and everyone looked at the teacher. One of them even asked loudly, "What's the prize?"
