Chapter 500

Greta stood there, staring at the broken toy on the floor, an unexpected wave of relief washing over her. She reassured herself, "It's better this way. You won't have to chase after her anymore. Cameron, can't you see? This is fate stepping in." But instead of understanding, Cameron hit her with a brutal slap. The blow was so forceful, it sent Greta reeling like a butterfly caught in a storm, crashing back to the ground.

Blood spilled from her mouth, and she looked up at Cameron, her eyes wide with disbelief. "You hit me? For someone else? Cameron, I'm your wife. How could you do this?"

Cameron was initially shocked, almost as if he couldn't believe he'd let himself stoop so low. Yet, his remorse was fleeting. With a dismissive snort, he stormed off, leaving Greta alone with her pain.

Greta gingerly touched her swollen cheek, but the sting on her skin was nothing compared to the ache in her heart. The love they once had soured into bitter resentment. She buried her face in her hands, tears flowing freely. Cameron marched back to the bedroom, slamming the door with a deafening bang. He collapsed onto the bed, hands tangling in his hair, frustration boiling over.
