POV

I woke up like someone's pounding at my skull, like a hammer driving through my temples. The dim light in the room didn't help; it made everything blur together, and I could barely make out my surroundings. With a groan, I pushed myself up from the bed, my muscles stiff, my body protesting with every movement.

Pain shot through my head, making me wince. I gritted my teeth, trying to shake off the haze.

Before I could gather myself together, I heard the soft patter of footsteps rushing towards.
