Chapter 53

Chapter 53.

Emily’s POV.

I looked up, my heart beating rapidly. Kex’s expression was unreadable, his face like stone. I need to think of something.

“Kex, I think someone drugged me,” I said, forcing my voice to shake. Kex’s eyes. narrowed, his expression fierce.

“Emily,” he said, the name like a curse on his lips. “Who the hell are you?” His voice was. a low growl, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

I looked from Kex to Nelly and Aisha, who both had sly smiles on their faces. My heart was pounding in my chest, my breath coming in short gasps.

“Emily,” Kex’s voice boomed, echoing in the room. I flinched, my body tensing with fear. “For the last time,” he said, his voice low and dangerous, “who the hell are you?”

I swallowed hard, my throat dry and tight. I felt like I was drowning, suffocating under the weight of the question.

I stammered, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I watched as Kex dragged a chair over and sat down, his feet tapping against the floor. His eyes blazed with fury, and I felt my palms grow sweaty.

“Look at me,” he commanded, his voice hard and unyielding.

My eyes met his, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I had never seen him like this. before, so intense and focused, his entire being focused on me.

“Who are you?” he demanded, his voice shaking with rage. “Where the hell did you come from?”

I stammered, “I already told you, I’m your late beta’s sister. We’re from the Blue Moon pack.”

Kex stood up suddenly, causing the chair to clatter to the floor. Nelly placed a hand on his chest.

“Relax,” she soothed.

I rolled my eyes, annoyed by her attempts to pacify him. I wanted to hit her, to make her understand how furious I was.
